Peggy teaches students of all levels, both children and adults. The lesson focus is on drumset and snare drum (mallet lessons are not offered at this time). Lessons consist of a mix of technique books, exercises, solo material, and playing to recordings. Brush playing is also included. The exact mix is determined by the student's abilities and immediate concerns (jazz band chart, NYSSMA competition, etc.). Students are expected to take their lessons seriously and work to the best of their abilities.

All lessons take place in Peggy's North Tonawanda, NY studio. Scheduling, cost, and policies are described below. If you have any questions, please contact Peggy at the email address at the top of the page.

Scheduling

Regular Lessons (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly)

Single Lesson

Weekly: ½-hr or 1-hr lesson in a specific time slot once per week (for beginners and school-age students).

Bi-weekly: 1-hour lesson in a specific time slot every other week (for advanced students who want regular lessons but have temporary school/family conflicts).

Monthly: 1-hour lesson in once a month (for advanced students, usually adults, who have to work around family or job committments).

1 or 1½ -hour lesson scheduled at a mutually convenient time. Lessons scheduled less than once per month are considered single lessons (ideal for college students or professional adult drummers).

With a single lesson, the student can use existing books/materials they already have, or start fresh in a book recommended by Peggy. In many instances, the student only wants to work on some general technique (brushes, chart reading, etc.) that they saw another drummer doing and want to learn themselves.

Cost

The Fine Print...

  • Lessons missed outright will be charged.

  • Lessons cancelled by the student with less than 24 hours notice (unless due to an emergency or severe weather condition) will be charged.

  • Lessons cancelled by the student at least 24 hours in advance will be rescheduled, but only one rescheduled lesson per month is allowed.

  • If Peggy should have to cancel a lesson, then the lesson can either be rescheduled or excused. If excused, the lesson fee is credited to the next month.

This policy is used by virtually every other type of instructional institution (i.e., dance studios, gymnastics centers, martial arts schools, day-care/Pre-K, etc.) because expenses do not change if a student misses their lesson. Musicians plan their own schedules (including paid performances) around their student lesson schedules; to disregard that is not only disrespectful to the teacher but also devalues music as a profession.
