Drum-Specific Programs

Drum-Specific Programs:
Clinics / Equipment Analysis / Development Programs

When teachers run into percussion problems such as hardware issues, or see their percussion students having difficulties, drummer Peggy Scalzo may be able to help. Her many years of experience as a working professional drummer and private teacher allow her to look at school matters with a fresh perspective and suggest practical solutions that save time and money.

Clinics, normally held at the school, are designed to pack a large amount of practical information into a short time frame. Taught in a small group format for students, teachers, or both, clinic material can include performance tips, equipment maintenance and/or repairs, proper technique, pit-playing for musicals, reading charts, or even general concepts related to drums & percussion. Topics are geared toward whatever the teacher feels is needed.

With an Equipment Analysis, all things percussion (stands, drums, heads, cyms, etc.) are evaluated. A recommendation list is then generated for any repairs or replacement parts needed. Much of the time Peggy can do the necessary fixes (if desired), but if specialized assistance is needed she can suggest the best person to call.

With Program Development, a study program is prepared for students so they can improve their skills (hand exercises, coordination material, etc.) and increase their percussive knowledge (sticks/mallets to have, head choices, useful accessories, etc.). This program can be in conjunction with or in addition to normal school lessons.
